We have a rich family history to share with our guests here at Dreiherrenmuehle. Over a century ago, my great grandfather ran a working flour mill on this property. The mill provided flour for the then-large town of Merl, a bustling village on the Mosel River, still known for its exceptional, sun-exposed vineyard sites.
As our family grew, my great grandfather knew he needed to expand his home. Fortunately, the mill operated on a large parcel of land, separated from town by only a half mile. He decided to expand the original Dreiherrenmuehle to a total of three houses.
As the need of house-milled flour declined, the mill sat unused and slowly deteriorated. My father and mother grew to appreciate the charm that these homes had to offer. They started to renovate them one by one in the 1990s, restoring them to their original glory. Meanwhile, they acquired a few of the best vineyard sites in town and began making Riesling, but everything in life has its time. We are currently marketing wines from our leased vineyards and from friends and fellow winemakers.
We love to share our passion and adventurous curiosity with our guests. We warmly invite you to meet here with family and friends to experience all that the Mosel has to offer.
